PHONE
CONSULTATIONS:
The initial phone call to Kav L’Noar
connects a family to a caring professional who provides support, answers
questions and determines how Kav L’Noar can be helpful. Many of these phone
calls end with a resolution to the caller’s questions or problem so that our
staff never meets the caller and their family.
INTAKE &ASSESMENT:
When a family meets with our staff for
the first time, we ask them to share the problem that brought them to Kav L’Noar
and what kind of help they are hoping to get from us. We encourage both parents
to appear at this first meeting and, when possible, to bring along the child who
is having a hard time. Our staff will conduct separate intake and assessment
meetings with both the parent(s) and the child. Our primary goal, in addition to
learning as much about the family and child as we can, is to begin to develop a
relationship with each of the individuals with whom we are meeting. We
then begin to form a relationship that will help us work together to develop an
appropriate treatment plan.
JOINT/SEPARATE MEETINGS
FOR CHILD & PARENT(S):
The process of intake- assessment is
often therapeutic, and begins a connection between a Kav L’Noar staff member and
the family. We take a brief family history and work with the family to determine
how to address their behavioral and emotional issues. Because the staff
and clients share similar cultural backgrounds and language, families are able
to ask questions and be understood.
CLINICAL SERVICES:
As of September 2007, after moving into
our new offices, Kav L’Noar has been offering an on premises mental health
clinic. Our clinical staff consists of family therapists, clinical social
workers, and educational psychologists. Our staff of clinicians works with
families and their children, following an intake and assessment process.
Sometimes adolescents experience difficulties at home, in school or with their
peers. If these difficulties begin to become severe or significantly inhibit a
child’s progress in School, at home or with friends it may be useful to seek
treatment.
